Embedding a Map

Display maps in another website

This feature is available with Professional account types. The embedding feature allows users with a TrackMyRide account to embed a map showing their device(s) in a web page hosted on another server.

Users may share any number of devices from their account on a web page that is part of a different web site. To use the embedding feature the user must enable the feature in their TrackMyRide console for each device they wish to share.

Once enabled the user will be given a device GUID for each device, an authentication token, and a URL to use to embed the page. The system provides a complete link to use with the iFrame. After the user places the link into their web page and publishes the site, the device(s) are displayed on the site.

Viewers of the page have the same functionality as the live-map page available on the public TrackMyRide site. They may view only the device(s) they wish, view device history and current location, zoom in or out and center the map on the current location. Device statistics are also available.

See the instructions below the map for information on how to embed a map in your website. An example of an embedded map appears below.

Embed a Map on your Website

To embed a TrackMyRide map in your website you must complete two steps.

Step 1 - Create an embed link, auth code and device list

  • Login to your TrackMyRide account (Choose the correct link from the Login menu).
  • Navigate to the Embedding page from the Sharing menu.
  • When the embed page loads scroll down and locate the "Manage Embedded URLs" section.
  • Click the "+" button just below the title and above the grid
  • The system displays a pop-up that allows you to configure the properties of the embedded URL
  • The configurable properties include:
    • Name/Description - This required field allows you to name the URL link you are creating to help you easily identify it. In most cases we recommend using the name of the website you plan to embed the link on as part of the name.
    • Start Date - This optional parameter allows you to specify the date when the embedded map is available to be shown. If left blank, the embedded map is available immediately after it is created.
    • Hour/Minute - Optionally allows the user to be specific as to the time of day when the embedded map may be shown.
    • End Date - Allows the user to specify when the embedded map should no longer be displayed. If left blank the map may be displayed indefintely. This is an optional parameter.
    • Hour/Minute - Just like the start hour & minute parameter above, this allows the user to be specific as to when the map should stop being displayed. This is an optional parameter.
  • In the bottom of the pop-up an iFrame HTML tag is shown. Copy and paste this code to the web page where you want the map to display.

With TrackMyRide view the location of anyone, anywhere, anytime. It is an open system designed to be highly informative and user friendly. It allows real time tracking and location of your devices. You can also view the history of the device and view its location over a customizable time range.
